Healthy Living Creates New Employee-Inspired Core Values

This year, Healthy Living decided it was time to review and update its core values to make them more congruent with the company’s current goals and working style. The managers asked all team members to submit a list of their own personal values. With these values from employees, the updated Healthy Living Core Values were drafted. They were sent out for feedback and discussed in meetings, then revised several times. We still believe that these values are a work in progress, and we have our pencils ready to add to or revise the list below when needed.

As a growing company shaped by integrity and our purposeful commitment to customers and employees, we use these values to guide our way and focus our daily vision.

Creating Connections: Healthy Living Meets Its Members at JDRF Events

Healthy Living joined in the excitement at the JDRF Summer Blast in Taylor last Saturday, August 13. Our group was honored to be a part of the event and enjoyed having the chance to get know (and learn from!) the Type One diabetes community, including a few of our customers and provider partners.

Are you ready for the Giant Jenga Challenge?

This past May, the TypeOneNation Summit, also organized by the JDRF, was a great way for the Healthy Living team to meet our members face-to-face. One employee at the event, Autumn, commented, “It was particularly encouraging to see how positive the JDRF community is. The prevailing attitude was hope for the future and tackling diabetes head-on, rather than being a ‘victim.’ We also had a great time with the Giant Jenga Challenge, which was a huge hit!”

The JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that can strike children and adults, and has nothing to do with diet or lifestyle. At this time, the disease cannot be prevented or cured.

Healthy Living will relocate to the historic Palms Building on Woodward Avenue later this year and will become the only diabetes specialty provider and pharmacy located in Detroit, positioning the company to strengthen existing relationships and to build new ones. “With this move, we are investing in the future of both Healthy Living and the City of Detroit,” said Mike Lewis, CEO of Healthy Living Medical Supply. Healthy Living’s Online Retail Store Makes Life Simpler

Healthy Living continues its focused work to make life easier for customers with an online retail store, offering products like over-the-counter medications, diabetes testing supplies, and insulin pump accessories. The store provides the ability for clients to order diabetes-related products with no shipping costs when delivered with an insurance-covered Healthy Living Medical Supply order. 

George Krantz is leading Healthy Living in keeping the store running smoothly – processing orders, handling inventory, answering questions, and adding products. The hope is to eventually grow the product selection in the store to around 500 items. According to George, the store expansion will happen through a dynamic process of working with patients.
